The beauty of the starlit night removed all thoughts of the sandy waste from my mind. How little we really are - how immense is this universe around us. Yet we are so concerned about our own little worries.
7th October, 1943: Camp: goodbye to Jack
We handed in our passes, and Lofty made inquiries about the charge. This had not come through.
Jack and his crowd were leaving after dinner, so we spent the morning playing cards. Very soon after tiffin however, they packed their kit into a lorry. They circled around the drome - and away.
At the pictures again, they played "Sand In My Shoes". I could almost scream, but I refrained.
